is the bulk e-mail program designed for use by advertisers wanting to send
mass e-mails to thousands of addresses. The software includes an
intelligent 'e-mail harvester' that extracts e-mail addresses from web pages
and text files.
Unlike the version that comes with the
E-Commerce suite, which uses a SQL Server database to store the e-mail
addresses, the free version uses MS Access, a component of Microsoft's
Office Suite. SQL Server is faster than its Office counterpart and can hold
more data. However, it requires separate, costly software to operate. The
free Access based version has the advantage of being able to run on any
computer that has an internet connection.
The rate of e-mail messages the program
can send is dependent only upon your connection speed. We tested the
software on two different lines. Our T1 with 1.5 MB upstream sends around
21,000 e-mails per hour, while our high speed cable line with 255 KB
upstream sends around 3,600 messages each hour. Messages are text based.
Quantec Software has plans to release the
source code for this program in the coming months. The program was
developed with Visual Studio C# on the .NET Framework v1.1.
